Possible.: Lupus is a tough disease to figure and this could certainly be a symptom of either disease or treatment.  However, if you are 48 this could symptom of menopause as well.  Might want to discuss with your rheumatologist.

Doubtful unless...: Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disorders (UCTD) should not affect the propensity to sweat. If, however, you are using steroid therapy (such as prednisone) then you could very well experience sporadic sweating as a side effect of steroid Rx and not the UCTD itself.

i have had myasthenia gravis for 18yrs and systemic lupus for 2 yrs. for 6 months i have had most all of the symptoms of pelvic girdle pain, but with  bleeding.  i am 55 yrs  w/ hot flashes.  help?

See md asap: Assuming you mean vaginal bleeding, see gyn, to make sure you don't have a potentially serious uterine or ovarian problem (including cancer). If you mean rectal bleeding, see GI doc to check for colorectal issues, including inflammation, polyps, cancer. If you mean urinary bleeding, start with gyn, but may need urology  evaluation.

my 24 year-old daughter has unexplained bruising around her eyes, severe fatigue, muscle aches, body pain, hot flashes followed by chills, a face rash &  swollen neck lymph node. she has repeated high c-reactive protein, but lupus panels are normal?

: Has she had a mononucleosis test? Has a rheumatologist been involved in her workup? She may have a type of autoimmune vasculitis. Is her platelet count normal or does she have thrombocytopenia, which can also be autoimmune, and which leads to easy bruising. I feel she requires more testing &amp; an infectious disease specialist consultation.

i am a 41 year old woman. i had a full hysterectomy in my early 30's. i have been able to stay of hrt but lately my moods, hot flashes etc. are out of controll. do i need to consider hrt?

Yes: Assuming your ovaries were removed at the time of the hysterectomy, i would encourage you to try estrogen replacement  therapy.  You are too young to be without estrogen. No estrogen can  cause bone and vaginal problems in addition to the symptoms you describe.

Difficult question: Without knowing your history its hard to give you recommendations. In certain cases there are alternatives and others where they may not be appropriate. I would recommend you see your gynecologist to review the options that you have given the particulars of your history.

Menopause: Hot flashes can represent serious infections. But it can also represent menopause.  I think your definition of your hot flashes as 'bad' means getting to the doctor.

Many good remedies: There are many effective ways to reduce vasomotor symptoms (like hot flashes). Meditation, good diet, vitamin e, herbal remedies, medications, and hormonal treatments can all be used in specific cases.  Talk to a women's health specialist.

HRT: Hormone replacement therapy is the best way to cure hot flashes. Some women are not candidates for hormone replacement and there are a few other medications that may help alleviate the symptoms (effexor (venlafaxine) and Clonidine are examples). Your doctor can help you decide what is best for you.
