Yes.: Intrathecal pain pumps are ideal for treating severe cancer pain due to metastasis.  There is significantly fewer side effects when narcotics are given this way compared to oral or IV meds which typically results in much better pain control and quality of life.

i feel pain around my right chest; would that be liver pain?

Accepted Answer

Unlikely: The liver is an abdominal organ that feels pain when its capsule, or fibrous coat, is stretched or torn.  Swelling, such as one might expect from an acute condition like new onset hepatitis can cause such pain, but that is usually felt just below the ribs.  Liver tumors (even benign ones) could cause pain also.  A quick trip to an urgent care for a physical exam will help.

how do liver pain and right chest pain differ?

Maybe not : The liver is under the lower right portion of your rib cage, so you may feel pain from your liver in the right lower chest. One cause would be hepatitis or even gallbladder pain. See you doctor to find out more.

i just found out i have a lesion on 2 lungs a 9 & 12 mm, spot on  rib,  spot 7 x 9 cm in my liver. found out i had a fatty liver, is it cancer ??

I always: follow the rule..when clinical situations such as yours  arise NEVER make a DIAGNOSIS until a piece of TISSUE is analyzed and a Pathological Diagnosis is made by a Specialist!

had mri of lumber sacral spine, there is a big bright spot on right under what looks like lung/liver . is this significient?

Some questions can't: ...Be answered in an online forum like this. I assume your doctor has sat down with you to discuss the results of your mri? If you can't understand your doctor's explanaiton, or if he/she is unsure, you can always ask for a second opinion, but this is not the place to get one. That needs to be where we can see your mri, and take a history/physical exam.

primary small cell liver cancer in nodes and spot in lung. on alternative therapies including baking soda, ph urine is 9-10, is this too high?

I'm sorry: Small cell carcinoma is very seldom primary in the liver and you need to have an explanation for why it's not a lung primary metastatic there instead -- that would be treatable with chemotherapy for a few more good months / years. The baking soda "alternative" therapy is a cynical, cruel fraud and adds insult to your difficult situation, no matter how "kindly" and "caring" the presenters.

reg chest ct showed 2mm lung spot that was there 6 months ago and unchanged. prior crc 1/09, hr for liver met 4/12. cea is normal. what could be cause?

Chest nodule: The good news is small.  hasn't changes in 6 m &amp; CEA normal Many tiny nodules are scars from prior infections. Standard protocol is to monitor with CT every 6 mos x 2 years and if stable not to worry.

extensive sclc in lung, mediastinal lymph nodes and spot on liver, i am 80 years old and still active. 
after 6 rounds of chemo (carboplatin/etoposide) my scan revealed stable lung and lymph tumours but slight growth in the liver.
i am now receiving cav

Depends.  : A lot depends on the distribution of the tumor and how rapidly it is growing.  Chemoembolization depends on a good blood supply, and if the tumor has only one or two "feeding" blood vessels.  In  some cases of metastatic liver cancer, there are innumerable small nodules; in others, a few large ones.  The latter is easier to treat. Chemoembolization seldom cures.

colon cancer 3yrs ago. surgery, 2spots was in liver..chemo for 2yrs.now z tumor is 15 cm& 7.5 wiz spots in lungs!fatigue &dysfunction liver. what help?

Systemic options: Sorry to hear about your situation. Would visit with your medical oncologist for further systemic options. Depending on what chemotherapy agents were used previously, there may be other options. Best wishes to you.
