: My hunch is that they are normal and you are. a very good feeler of nodes or you are irritating them by feeling them all the time and making them get bigger. Leave them alone for a bit-say 2 months and see.

Time has taught me..: ..That with cancer almost anything is possible. That said, it would be unlikely for a 1cm lung "nodule" to go only to the orbit, especially if it is not proven to be cancer. I would suggest you discuss this with your doc (there may be details he/she knows that we don't) but seems to me that further imaging or maybe a biopsy are considerations if either of those 2 lesions are suspicious enough.

You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor. Wish you good health!

Lung tumor: Chest or mediastinal lymph nodes associated with a lesion in the lung most often represent metastasis from  a lung primary.  This can further be defined by mediastinoscopy and lymph node biopsy or if in the proper position, thoracoscopy removing the lung nodule.  A PET/CAT before any procedure will tell whether the nodes are malignant as whether the lung lesion is malignant.

Evaluation needed: While lung cancer can present like that, there are a fewl other causes for chest lymphadenopathy and a pulmonary nodule, including infectious and inflammatory diseases. Without a doubt, further evaluation is mandatory, likely with a pet scan and likely a diagnostic biopsy. Of course the medical history is important (smoking, history of other cancers etc).

got results for pet scan on lung nodules. nodules are "undetermined" cuz of size but parotid glands on both side of neck showed "hot".  any relation?

No relation: Parotid glands can have chronic inflammation which will show up on a PET scan just like tumors do. But it is unlikely to be anything significant that should worry you. You can ignore it for the time being.

Big enough: A 13 mm lung nodule warrants a pet/ct scan. This will identify things like calcifications seen in benign nodules and will determine if sugar uptake is high as seen in infection or tumor or low indicating scar. Depending on the likelihood of cancer, a ct guided biopsy is possible in most peripheral nodules greater than 9mm. Lung cancer is increasing in nonsmokers, women and the young in u. S.

Good sign: Cancers grow.  No growth in 8 months is indicative of a benign lesion.

if someone smoked 30 years ago and now has a lung nodule should it be removed asap?

Accepted Answer

Get checked.: If a person has a lung nodule and a history of smoking 30 years ago, it should at least be checked out by a doctor and preferably aspirated for cells, etc..There is almost no way to know what this is unless it is checked out by previous x rays, and the above tests to get more knowledge about it.  Then the best course of action can be determined.
