my 16 year old has lumps in various places on his body. they are under the skin and feel like soft marbles.  is there a chance these are cancer?

Lumps Under the Skin: It is very unlikely that these are cancer. They could be one of a myriad of conditions, ranging from innocent "hives, " to a variety of infectious and non-infectious dermatologic conditions. Some hereditary systemic conditions can present this way as well. Naturally, you will want to bring your son to consult with a dermatologist for a definitive diagnosis and treatment plan.

my ribs hurt when being poked or pressed on. i feel tiny little lumps under the skin all over my ribs. i am overweight what could this be?

One or both sides?: If this has been present for less than a few days and confined to only one half of the body, then you may be getting shingles which will soon erupt as painful lesions.  On the other hand, trauma to or fracture of the ribs can cause pain as well. If the problem is intolerable, see your doctor. Has NSAID been helpful?

Lumps: Please get this checked out. it may be neurofibromas, given the extent of the skin involvement. if you were my patient i would obtain a biopsy and figure out whats going on. See your provider and get checked.

See your PCP to get: An evaluation and xrays to ensure that you don't have a fracture. Other possibilities include a pulled muscle, or collection of blood causing a lump etc, etc. Another possibility is that the lumps were always there but you noticed them after hurting the forearm from the fall. 
Seeing an orthopod would greatly help for proper diagnosis.

Maybe: If there are only a symptomatic lumps, radiation is effective. If skin tumors are widespread chemo might be indicated.
