More : More information is needed for a proper recommendation.  Different diagnosis could have the same presentation, causing bumps to show, like dupuytren's, ganglions or even abscesses.  Is it superficial or deep, painful or not?  Go see your pcp for a proper evaluation.

Could be scar tissue: Scar tissue can form at an incision site. You should have your surgeon check it.

i hit my hand hard a few weeks ago. i have a sunken knuckle and a hard lump palm side of my index finger. could this be a tendon?

Hard to say.: A sunken knuckle often means a "boxer's fracture."  Get checked to see.  Only an x-ray can determine of this is more than a tendon injury.  If you have a loss of finger function, you may have also damaged your tendon too, and this may need to be repaired to prevent permanent damage. Get seen!

Possibly a ganglion.: Ganglion cysts are swellings of the linings of the sheaths around the nerves or tendons, arising usually after some form of trauma (which might just be a sharp yank or twist).  They can get bigger and smaller as they fill and empty with fluid as part of the inflammatory response.  The pain comes from the space they take up.  They are seen with mri. If not this, have the nerves evaluated w/ emg.

See a hand surgeon!: A hand surgeon will examine you and perform some tests to make sure that your tendon was not damaged. Sometimes, with partial tendon injuries, you can still bend your fingers. However, if you don't treat it properly, they can tear completely and you will lose finger motion.

See a rheumatologist: I would prescribe a consultation with a rheumatologist. Tendon inflammation in that area can be the result of an inflammatory arthritis. Do not self treat.
