See ENT: It sounds like you have a neck mass and this is concerning to me.  Ideally an ENT surgeon (otolaryngology - head and neck surgeon) should see you and evaluate your neck.  It may just be inflammatory lymph nodes but it is best to have ENT check it out.

Strep throat: Strep throat or other throat infections are a possibility, especially if the lumps are lymph nodes.  Should be seen and treated.

Possible: Thyroiditis (subacute) is a possibility, although there are a lot of other structures in your neck and it is possible that it is not thyroid at all.  Thyroiditis is often temporary and resolves.  See your doctor.

Do not ignore: Most likely infection and not cancer. However, could be lymphoma. Also, there are higher rates of throat/tonsil cancer with neck lymph nodes in younger people (even nonsmokers) due to HPV infection.

However, remember this is most likely an infection. It may need treatment with an antibiotic. If lumps persist, however, just do not forget that cancer is a potential cause.

Most likely: Painless lumps typically represent reactive (benign) lymph nodes.  Fluctuations in size with respiratory/throat infections typically is normal, but watch to make sure they are not progressively growing or becoming painful.  Plus, if they are freely moveable, it is a good sign,

Lymph nodes: Very likely they are lymph nodes.  These glands are the regional headquarters of the soldiers of your immune system when they are fighting an infection.  They tend to enlarge when there is an increased demand of fighter cells in the affected body part.  Head and throat infections tend to cause lymph node enlargement in the neck region.

Throat infection: You sound like you have a throat infection which could be due to a virus or bacteria.  The lumps on your neck are likely lymph nodes which get bigger when you are sick and   sometimes the lymph nodes themselves can get infected.  They become very large, red and very painful to touch.  If this continues you should see your doctor to be evaluated for infection of your throat and possibly lymph nodes.

Pharyngitis: The fact that you're losing your voice indicates a something is irritating your vocal chords (either false or true chords).  It may be postnasal drip coming from her sinuses or other bacterial infection. The lumps  your feeling on the side of your neck are lymph nodes in your cervical chains or jugulodigastric under the sharp angles of your jawbone.
