a lump under the right ear.   not very large. i can feel it but cant see it from outside very properly. area around is a bit swollen and hurts little.

Lymph node, likely.: Slightly enlarged lymph nodes are very common in childhood due to URIs or ear infections. When they are acutely inflamed, they can become swollen and tender. If the lump doesn't get better within a week, or you discover other lumps that weren't there before, you should take her to see her doctor for a more complete checkup.

Not certain: It sounds like there is a fluid collection in the skin behind the ear. Questions to ask yourself: is this soft? Does it move when you touch it? Is it painful or red? Have you had any surgery in this region? There is a natural " lump" behind the ear  that is called the mastoid process. This can have an infection and if there is surrounding fluid this may be the fluid lump rthat you see. See your dr.

recovery support: Best to ask your surgery team, however in general recovery from skin and soft tissue resection should be about a week. Okay to call surgery office for post operative report. Take a friend/family with you to hear the pathology results and help asking questions. Be welll.

Monitor : This may be just a benign lymph node. Monitor the lump for changes such as increasing size, pain, texture, pigmentation.  Any of these changes indicate a need for further evaluation.

Lumps: Could be something benign like sebaceous cysts. Should check scalp for any lesions. If masses firm, could be of more concern. See ENT
