Wrist pain: If there is bruising, this may be due to trauma and the formation of a hematoma (blood collection).  If there is no trauma, this may be due to a ganglion cyst.  I recommend an evaluation with your primary care physician.

i use the computer a lot for work. the last few weeks ive had pain my palms at the base of all fingers & wrist pain. no lumps there, just some mild tenderness. tried ice/heat/nsaids. cant see ortho yet. what is the most likely differential?

See a hand doctor: Many causes for pain. Tendon or muscle tear, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. If is recurring see and hand and arm specialist before you continue this exercise!

i've wrist pain & in thumb, can't pick things up & drop things. i fell 3.5 weeks ago on that side & had pain at time, it wouldn't be from that would it?

Trauma that lead to: pain. Must be considered. Thumb ligament injury at the MCP joint, wrist fracture, in the radius or scaphoid are possible, as are other bone or ligament injury. tendon pain giving pain with thumb extension near the wrist can be a sign of contusion or tendonitis. An evaluation that includes xrays is typically a good step to take for the symptoms and history described here

Many possibilities: At the top of the list would be some form of wrist tendonitis but other possibilities would include latent injury such as unrecognized scaphoid fracture, ligament sprains, occult masses such as ganglia, avn of the lunate (kienbock's), and tfcc injury (though surely not a classic description). You should have a good exam with plain x-rays and possibly an mri. Best of luck.

Wrist pain: So many things possible. The fact that is non trauma related makes you think of an inflammatory arthritis or crystal (gout) arthritis. Specific overuse problems such as dorsal compartment tenosynovitis. Hard to give specific answer without complete history and physical.

Wrist splint and ice: You can always go into an urgent care to get X-rays immediately.  To wait until your appointment, you could buy a wrist splint that also immobilizes your thumb to help relieve pain.  Icing the painful area for 10-15 minutes a few times a day can also help.  If not allergic, you can take Ibuprofen 600mg every 8 hours and also Tylenol (acetaminophen) 500mg every 6 hours as well to help reduce pain.

I am sorry to hear you are in pain.
Certainly fracture and bone bruising can be a source of pain, but since there is no injury let's consider some other pathologies:

TFCC (triangular fibrocartilage) tear
ulnar impaction syndrome
ulnar impingement syndrome
ulnar styloid impaction syndrome
hamatolunate impingement
Tendon disease

An MRI read by a MSK radiologist can sort these out for you.
