See Your Doctor: You have 2 lumps "right side of neck". Lumps that can be felt in the neck region are usually prominent lymph nodes which are part of your immune system. Infection, trauma, &amp; cancers can cause them to enlarge with or without pain. However, a prominent node can be a benign finding. You should have your doctor take a look to provide the correct diagnosis and for reassurance if no treatment is needed.

Lump: It suggests a benign lesion like an inclusion cyst, wen, or  burnt out lymph node. Of course a physician would have to inspect it to be sure.

Not Necessary: What you're feeling is very likely a lymph node. Some physicians call them glands as a slang term. It's part of the body's fluid reclamation system. If your child has 'cradle cap' or seborrhea, a node like this can be a normal occurrence. If you notice other swelling or this one gets more prominent, have your physician recheck it.

woke up today with a stiff neck from below ear downwards, feel unwell and lump on sternocleidomastoid muscle. my neck really tender hurts to touch?

Get checked out: A lump on your sternocleidomastoid could be a lymph node.  In that case, you might have an infection or inflammation.  There are many causes of stiff neck, but in the setting of swollen lymph nodes, i would be sure to be checked out.  Meningitis can cause stiff neck, for example, and you don't want to miss that diagnosis.  I would see a doc asap.
