have lump on muscle behind knee no pain at all just happened to feel it the other day and been wondering why one leg is noticably larger then other ?

Baker Cyst: If the "bump" is directly behind the knee and not associated with pain the most likely etiology is a "baker's cyst" or popliteal cyst.  These are usually benign though at times can become quite large and become bothersome due to limitation they place on bending the knee.  They can, though rarely, rupture and result in swelling and pain in the lower leg mimicing a deep vein thrombois (dvt).

No: Significant knee pain is not common in a 17 year old. If it continues you should have the knee evaluated.

Could be a clot: could be a blood clot or a swelling from an insect bite. See your doctor for an evaluation.

noticed hard lump mid lower leg,top of shin today size of large marble.knee pain too but thats not uncommon.tender to touch.no recent injuries but i have fibrous dysplacia in skull,could this be same on leg now?i was told it only occurs in1 location?

: By Mayo clinic: "in most cases, fibrous dysplasia occurs at a single site in one bone, but can occur at multiple sites in multiple bones. Single bone involvement usually occurs in adolescents and young adults". You should see you doctor for a leg X-ray if the skin over the lump is normal. If the skin is abnormal, fibrous dysplasia is less likely.

See orthopedist: Twisting knee injuries can cause ligament or meniscus injury. If inner aspect of knee could be medial collateral ligament sprain or medial meniscal tear.

Baker&#x27;s cyst...: ...also called popliteal cyst, is the most common explantion of this sort of thing. Usually harmless, but see your doctor to be certain; or discuss with your doc&#x27;s office whether they would prefer you go directly to an orthopedist. Google Baker&#x27;s cyst to find lots if information about it.

See details: Have you had an MRI done? An xray is not reliable enough to decide anything. It is impossible to give a definite answer without being able to examine an MRI first hand. Several thing may cause swelling.
