Palatal Tori: Palatal tori is a slow growing hard lump in the roof of the mouth that is usually painless.  These growths run in the family.  It is not cancerous but can become sore  from eating hard or sharp foods such as chips.  It needs to be removed if you want to wear an upper denture.  As with any changes in your mouth it is a good idea to have a dentist examine the lump to rule out cancer or tumor.

Pizza burn: Usually this happens with hot cheese.  It is a burn in the roof of your mouth.  It will heal in about 7 to 10 days.

Dental appointment: Could be a benign boney prominences called tori, but it would be best to see your dentist and have them looked at to be sure. Usually, a torus is in the middle at the edge of the hard palate, not on either side.

Palatal tori: It may be palatal tori, which is a normal overgrowth of bone on the roof of your mouth.  Sometimes food or your toothbrush can scrap the tender tissue stretching over the tori causing pain. Rinse with warm salt water. You need to see a dentist to make sure you do not have a palatal abcess due to an infected tooth or less likely oral cancer.

i had a tooth absess drained by my dentist 4 days ago. i still have a lump on the roof of mouth which is extremely painful. how long till it goes away?

Hard to say: Are you on antibiotics? Was root canal therapy started on that tooth, or will it be extracted? The incision and drainage removes much of the infection, but the source of the infection will need to be addressed. Speak to your dentist regarding what treatment is proposed.

Lump on palate: It is impossible to diagnose this without a clinical examination and additional information. This could be a tooth or gum infection, or something worse.
Any swelling in your mouth should be examined by your dentist or an oral surgeon, especially one that re-occurs.
