Needs examination: Difficult to say - may be an ongoing infection or simply inflammatory tissue or some other issue such as salivary gland infection.  Needs fairly prompt dental or medical examination (GP or urgent care or urgent dentist)  and right away if breathing or swallowing difficulties.  All the best.

It'll take a while: Sounds like it was a severe infection.  It will take 4-6 weeks for swelling to go down. Pain should go down by the end of antibiotics. If it doesn't then a scan to see if infection is still trapped in sinus cavity is a good step.

Hard or Soft ?: A hard lump can be a bony exostosis, a soft lump can be an abscess. These are only guesses... you'll need to see your local dentist for a definitive diagnosis

Hard to say: Bruising can occur after any dental procedure that requires an injection.  If the needle nicks a blood vessel, a bruise can result.  Bruising after a root canal procedure can also occur if cleansing solutions are expressed through the end of the tooth.  These are complications that can be quite serious.  If your root canal was recent, call your dentist and ask to be evaluated.

Normal at this stage: Most likely its related to where they gave you the shot and will subside in a day or two. Advil (ibuprofen) or other Ibuprophen meds if you can take them will help make it more comfortable and speed the recovery.

i was in pain after i was almost finished with the sittings for my root canal. one morning, the pain went away. now, i havea big red lump on my gum and it throbs from time to time.what should i do?

Normal..: The treatment itself is prone to have complications. If it's not finished, wait for the final result. If hurts, your dentist will prescribe the necessary medication.
