Othe spleen removal cause may have no relation to bilirubin or jaundice

Bilirubin: The alcohol is a likely culprit and the solution is to slow down. Now you are male and 2 to 7% of the population has Gilbert's syndrome which is an elevated bilirubin secondary to conjugation abnormality. You might want to check any older lab work if you have had liver studies .  Are other liver enzymes elevated?  Alcohol problems typically elevate other enzymes too.

Bilirubin: There are 2 types of bilirubin and if they are abnormal can mean differ things. There is a a pattern when the unconjugated level is slightly high throughout life and is common in families. It is called Gilbert's. Ask your doctor to obtain a fractionated bilirubin to help with the diagnosis.

Gilbert's disease: It is a familial (autosomal dominant), common (2-5% of people), unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia (blood bilirubin measures 1-5mg/dl), not due to breakdown of blood. It is associated with reduced enzyme levels of udp glycuronyl transferase, that results in jaundice when patients fast or suffer an infection. It does not shorten life or raise insurance rates, but may predispose to tylenol (acetaminophen) toxicity.

8 weeks: I know what u asked, but wait 8 weeks to see the FULL effect. It may affect SGOT/PT/CK, but should not affect alkaline phosphatase or bilirubin
