Difficult to tell: for sure, but it could be pilonidal cyst abscess.  Show it to your doctor, because sometimes it requires antibiotics or even surgical drainage.

See Doctor: Recurrent non specific flu like symptoms can be the sign of underlying problem.  If can be sign of festering localized infection or pathology.  See doctor.

See Your Doctor: A "bump" which is sore and getting bigger needs to be evaluated.  It is most likley a skin infection but the fact that it is tender and getting bigger warrants evaluation.  See your doctor as soon as possible.

Pain to touch: This is usually the sign of a bruise, spasm, or tendinitis. Pain to the touch is not likely nerve related. If the pain is between the spine and your shoulder blade, i would consider levator syndrome (muscle irritation) likely due to posture especially computer work. Rest, ice, nsaid's, and salonpas hot patches (capsacian patches) are good. Change your posture, monitor at eye level.

Your age is needed: When you say "thickness" around the spine I assume you are talking about the musculature in your neck. To answer your question it would be helpful to know your age and occupation and any other symptoms like loss of cervical motion, tingling in your arms. I would suggest that you consult with your family physician to ascertain the cause of this "thickness".

Infected cyst??: Sounds like you might have had a sebaceous cyst which got infected, hence it is harder and tender now. These are benign swellings in the skin occurring near a hair. 
See your doc/surgeon about it for proper DX and treatment.

Compression or burst: Tenderness means muscular strain to me your muscles may be having trouble adapting to the new shape of your spine since t12 fracture just 10 degrees of added kyphosis can make there job much harder check with spine specialist to rule out progressive collapse and latent ligamentous damage a flexion extension lateral xray is all thats needed this far out from injury rule out unstable compression frx

Probably muscular: The neck and low back are covered with small muscles.  These get stretched and bruised with regular movement.  Small nerves travel through these muscles to the arms and legs.  Spasms of these muscles can pinch the nerves and cause numbness and tingling.  The muscles will feel sore when you massage.  A good medical evaluation would be appropriate.
