No: Most patients do not experience back pain, however, many patients have some back arthritis that can be exacerbated by the use of crutches, a walker, or a cane after surgery.

Ouch: If you are having more pain, make sure you get in to be evaluated.  Did you do physical therapy?  Make sure you do physical therapy - this could also help your discomfort significantly.  Take care!

Leg length change?: Often, after hip replacement, one leg is left shorter than the other.This changes your gait causing all the symptoms you mentioned: chronic low back pain, foot &amp; leg pain.Surgery could also have caused other problem like pubic shear which needs to be realigned.A good osteopathic eval. might pinpoint the problem.Answer could be as simple as a heel lift or osteopathic manipulation.

Change in gait: Following total hip replacement lower back pain may be the result of an alteration in your gait, a change in leg length, new exercise routine or a secondary injury to your back. If it persists let your doctor know. Often some simple changes in exercise, added pt, and/or orthotics can make a difference.

had hip replacement 8 weeks ago all of a suddon had a lot of pain in lower back and buttocks hard to walk .wondering if i would know if i dislocated.?

Dislocated total hip: Sudden onset new kind of pain is an alarm sign after hip replacement. Dislocation will make your leg short and rotated in an abnormal way and you will be unable to walk. Call your doctor as soon as possible and make arrangements for an evaluation. If you are unable to bear weight and your leg is short call 911 for a transfer to the closest er.

Not related: Hip arthritis does not directly cause sciatica.  If your left hip has been hurting and it has been causing you to limp, then your hip may indirectly affect your back but increasing the lateral strain on your back due to the limp.  If your left hip does not hurt, you are unlikely to need a hip replacement.  Go get an xray.

Strain: Could be strain, sciatica, arthritis, herniated disk, kidney stone or infection  among other causes. Try to have sex in different position  and see physician for evaluation.

Lumbar disc: Due to positioning you may have a slipped lumbar disc.  See your PCP.  You may need a MRI

Positioning: Most likely your pain is related to positioning during last stage of labor. Talk to your obstetrician who will arrange proper evaluation.

can i occasionally take an extra melodicam 7.5 for bad hip / lower back pain when i can't get to doctor?

? meloxicam: There are two dosing strengths 7.5mg / 15mg

you are not to exceed 15mg per day.

So if you are taking 7.5mg a day normally - then another 7.5mg taken about 12 hrs later is okay. 

If you are on 15mg per day then you should not take another tab.
