You're fine: Normal WBC. I trust lymphocyte and neutrophil counts were fine also. Take the prenisone for the poison ivy only if it's so bad you can't sleep otherwise. We're glad to help.

: Not usually. Could there be an enlarged submandibular salivary gland instead of a lymph node?  Does your ENT specialist follow you for a persistent enlarged lymph node and has a biopsy been recommended or has the size been stable for years?

Enlarged node: Lymph nodes often enlarge during an infection.  As lymphocytes proliferate the lymph node expands.  There is pain as the capsule stretches.  The white blood cell count is often elevated during an infection.

Infection: Initially I think of infection either chronic or acute when I see increased WBC and also depending on the type of WBC that is increased. enlarged lymph nodes also indicate poss some infectious process going on.  These need to be evaluated by your primary health provider as more tests are probably indicated.

Need more info: Was the blood sugar test done in fasting state? What was the actual value? What are the details of your blood cell counts? It would be prudent to discuss it with the doctor who ordered the tests as s/he is likely to have more info about your health.
