high esr and normal wbc count. what does this mean. also my lymphocyte count is a bit low?

Inflammation: A slightly low lymphocyte count usually is meaningless.  A high erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) indicates an infection or some sort of systemic inflammation. Hundreds of things can cause it. High ESR never gives a clue to any particular diagnosis. It just means additional exams and testing are necessary to learn the cause. Keep working with your doctor. i'm a 36m.  doctor told me that my wbc count was on the low end at 3.4 (normal is 3.8 - 10) after a blood test.  i have no medical history and never get sick.  i'm very healthy and fit.  should i lose sleep over this?

No: Different things can affect the WBC count and a minor deviation like this is not likely worrisome unless other symptoms are present.  Usually, i recommend repeating the level in 3-4 weeks to ensure there isn't a trend (wbc is dropping dramatically).  If it's stable after one repeat then i don't consider it abnormal.

neutrophil - 2.0 - ref [1.5-7.5]
lymphocyte - 1.5 - ref [1.0-3.5]?

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, your results are not worrisome. If you do not have symptoms, do not be concerned. Treatment should be geared to the patient, not blood test results.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex.

i have a ferritin level of 8, a low wbc count and low neutrophil and lymphocyte. normal periods and eat well rounded diet - what are potential causes?

Low ferritin: The commonest cause of low ferritin in women is due to menstruation and inadequate absorption of the nutritiional form of iron from food or from supplements.  Usually if ferritin is low then other minerals and vitamins are also low.  Talk to your doctor about taking iron and other supplements.

platelets count is 151 and wbc count is 4.0 are these normal for my age or should i be concerned as they are both low, my alkaline phosphate is 36 u/l  i have no symptoms i just did a general blood test like i do each year. i run and exercise a lot ?

Likely normal: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, your results are in the normal range.

my white blood cell count was 6.25... is this normal or low? is it okay to take prednisone for poison ivy with this wbc count?

You're fine: Normal WBC. I trust lymphocyte and neutrophil counts were fine also. Take the prenisone for the poison ivy only if it's so bad you can't sleep otherwise. We're glad to help.

3.16 wbc count. back pain, fatigue. normal ct, labs ( blood work) came back great for a woman my age. so why is my wbc low? is this a low-normal?.

It can be: The normal range is roughly 4-10.5. The differential is important. If the neutrophils are over 40% and you are not having recurrent infections or mouth sores, more work up may not be needed. If clinical concern, a bone marrow biopsy and aspiration could be performed, but very low yield given what we know so far.

: Description of your symptoms and physical findings are not consistent with acute HIV infection.  To be sure,  have a combination antigen/antibody immunoassay.

A wide range.....: Of normal is seen for both men and women.  Generally, a range of 4k-10k per ul is commonly reported by most labs.  However, the number of wbcs is only part of the picture.
