Same as adults: Any disease which can cause low oxygen saturation in adults will do in elderly. Pneumonia.  Sepsis from any other infection heart failure bronchitis and  atelectasis. Needs evaluation.

Yes.: Don't really have any choice.  Not sure why your levels are low or how low, but staying awake eternally is not an option.  If low levels are due to a temporary illness oxygen is often prescribed.  If due to sleep apnea then CPAP is offered.

Another sea-level example would be a person with emphysema who may run a blood oxygen level of 88% and still be walking around home depot.

Oxygen: The normal o2 in the blood is calculated as that which should be calculated by knowing the lung, the age, water vapor pressure, etc. Very complicated. For our purposes, we set at that oxygen which will give us a saturation of hemoglobin at least 90% in the arteries. If it is lower than that it is low.

Low oxygen: One way is to use a pulse oximeter which fits over the finger and gives a good approximation of the oxygen in the blood.

If that is the case?: When you experience a seizure, your oxygen level might dip and your carbon dioxide will also change.  Many metabolic changes accompany seizures.  I suspect that oxygenation due to seizure activity, not the reverse.  You do not list your current anti-seizure meds, but i presume you are taking some medication.  Altering your medicines may successfully control the seizures.
