High sugars: Type 2 diabetics can still make insulin, they just don't make as much as their body requires to overcome insulin resistance.  If your pancreas truly stops making insulin, your sugar would rise significantly and you would develop increase thirst, urination, and start losing weight.  One can check a c-peptide level to assess how much insulin your pancreas is making.

Type 2 dibetes: It is not insulin like symptoms it is blood glucose levels that count.
How often are you checking your blood sugar?
How much diabetes medication are you using and how are you using it?
How good is your diet?
How much do you exercise?

Get all that under contro and things will get better.

PS: I don't like the term "diabetic"! You have diabetes and your goal is to get rid of it.

: It depends on how much sugar you eat and how high your blood sugar rises. Symptoms of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia) vary depending on the severity. People can go to coma with severe hyperglycemia or you just have blurred vision, dry mouth, thirsty and voiding a lot in moderate cases. With mild hyperglycemia, you may not have any symptoms at all. Those can occur in patients with or without med.

Type 2 diabetes: Type 2 diabetes is driven by insulin resistance where the cells in your body no longer respond well to the insulin your body produces. It is usually associated with excessive body fat and eating too many processed food. The ideal solution is to reverse type 2 diabetes through dieting, intermittent fasting and ketogenic diets. Exercise is also very helpful. Insulin is a last resort treatment.

type 2 diabetes for 2 years. i have been on metformin, i added farxiga for a year.  when i eat carbs, even avoiding white carbs my sugar goes over 200. but very a low carb diet causes sugar crashes. is it possible i should be on insulin?

Yes: If you have type 2 diabetes and need Insulin and you stop taking it you can go into hyper-osmolar coma (very high blood sugar with dehydration) which has a very high mortality rate.

No: All  of people with diabetes type 2, have insulin resistance , but to have Clinical diagnosis of diabetes needs fasting blood sugar of 126 or above .a lot if people may have insulin resistance now but it will take them a while to develope the clinical diagnosis of diabetes. It is safe to say that the majority of over weight people have insulin resistance but not all have diabetes type 2.

what is the difference between novolin (insulin) n and novolog for a type two diabetic?

Onset/duration: Novolin n (a brand of nph) is an intermediate acting insulin. It starts working after a few hrs, peaks in 6-8 hrs and lasts 12-16 hrs. Novolog is a rapid acting insulin. It starts to work in a few mins, peaks in an hr or two, lasts 4 hrs or so. Novolog is used @meals to prevent post-meal high bs and to "correct" bs.  Nph (or better yet a long acting like Lantus (insulin glargine) or levemir) keeps fasting bs lower.
