Probably not: The normal range is based on large population studies.  The normal range for any individual is much more narrow.  The TSH is usually the most sensitive indicator.  Low TSH is typically associated with high thyroid levels, high TSH with low thyroid levels.  The only way to have both low TSH and low thyroid levels is if there is a pituitary problem (rare).  Symptoms of low thyroid are very common.

No significance: T3 (liothyronine) uptake is an old test used to indirectly measure t4.  Now that we have assay to accurate measure free t4, we don't use this test anymore.  If your TSH and free T4 is normal on levothyroxine, then you are doing fine on the current dose.  No need to change anything at this point.

ft3 4.7(v. high) and ft4 0.2(c. low) and normal tsh with low hb and protine difficency. suggest reasons and treatment. i am on thyroxine from 15 days.

More info needed,,: Your ft4 is low and you're on thyroxine, so that's an indication that your thyroid was apparently hypo functioning, at least without the thyroxine.  The ft3 is the more active form but doesn't last long so it must be replaced which is naturally done by conversion from ft4.  The lack of protein also plays in here as it binds thyroid hormone and more tests like renal, etc. Are needed to explain this.

Reproducible?: Hi. Is the lab profile with normal TSH and low free T4 reproducible? The labs should be repeated. If the free T4 was just below the normal range, and on repeating it's in the normal range, then your thyroid function is normal. If free T4 is significantly low and TSH is normal, that suggests pituitary disease affecting the pituitary cells that make TSH. Good luck!

Not sure if any.: The TSH is normal so it might be a variation of normal or euthyroid.  It also might be a developing thyroid condition, but there would be symptoms, like fatigue.  It would be wise to see your doctor to follow up.

Thyroid function: When TSH is normal and T4 is low this is called subclinical hypothyroidism. It is not treated unless if you have symptoms.
Also if TSH &gt; 10 some would start treatment. Hope that helps answer your question.

hi! i got lab work from my doctor. both the t4 total (7.0) and free t4 (1.5) i think are normal. tsh is 0.47 and t3 is 73, which i think are both low--should i see an endocrinologist with these results? do i need ct or mri to check anything further?

Context needed: Clinical context as to why you are having thyroid tests done, follow up, symptoms, etc and test dynamics if you had similar tests in the past and how are they trending before speculating as to where to go with above numbers. An endocrinologist should help clarify if not already involved. Imaging may be considered, more information will be needed.

Thyroid tests: The "normal range" differs from lab to lab and depending on the units.  These are normal values in the British system, but the normal range for FT4 and FT3 is different in the American system.

Recheck the labs: Normally, if the ft4 is high, either due to hyperthyroidism or taking too much synthroid, (thyroxine) your TSH is low.  Mistakes in labs can occur, so first have them rechecked.  Rarely, you can have a pituitary tumor that makes TSH and causes hyperthyroidism, giving you both increased TSH and ft4. But this is rare, and more likely there is a simple explanation.
