Low fiber diet: Meaning less of foods with high fiber content, to avoid build up of waste in the colon before the procedure, usually it is soft diet, avoid lots of fruits, vegetables, green salads, etc, ask the team who will perform the colonoscopy, they would provide you with exact diet regimen needed, good luck with the procedure

Plenty of liquids: Colonoscopy is a unique event and remember that the preparation is very important. Follow the directions on your particular bowel preparation and remember to drink plenty of clear liquids.
Role aids are permissible.

i have been on clear liquid diet all day and started colonoscopy prep 4.5 hours ago. i have drank 2 liters of movi-prep without a bm. what should i do?

Continue prep: Continue the prep as prescribed.  If you have not had good BMs prior to time for the procedure, let the doctor who is going to do the procedure know.  If your colon is not cleared out, the doctor will not be able to see well enough for the colonoscopy to be of any value.  You may need to be prescribed a different bowel prep.

The bowel prep for a colonoscopy can be very challenging to take. Because the goal is to clear your colon of stool completely, the regimen is very aggressive and you may be having bowel movements almost continuously until it is just clear liquid coming out. Depending on the regimen, you may also experience residual cramping as the effects of the laxative wear off. Hope this helps.

Yes: you can get a colon prep if you have an ulcer or gastritis. As long as you are not vomiting or nauseous you should be ok to tolerate the prep. Otherwise you may not be able to hold down the liquids.

The most important part is to drink all the golitely which will cause diarrhea until stool completely clears and only water is what you see. Its very important to be clean so that minute polyps can be seen and removed and no lesion missed.

There are different protocols and regimens to prepare for a colonoscopy that use combinations of laxatives, stool softeners, and osmotic purging solutions to assure there is nothing in your colon that will obscure the doctor's view. Avoiding fiber for two days is also important since it is the nondigestible fibers that block the view. It is crucial you follow YOUR OWN Doctor's instructions.

During prep drinking ...,apple juice is permitted - in case of diabetes can provide glucose if hypoglycemia . If you have special needs - consult w Gastroenterologist before procedure.   . .
