However, if there is only one small spot, a typical bruise is more likely, and a blood clotting disorder is less likely. Spots and rashes are hard to describe and hard to diagnose without seeing them, so a visit to a doctor is needed if worried.

Hive?: Sounds like this is new for you.  If the spots come and go within a 24 hour period, then almost certainly hives.  Watch out for new foods or personal care products that may cause them, but most of the time a cause cannot be found.  If you have no contraindications, you could try otc cetirizine that is longer acting than Benadryl (diphenhydramine) and less sedating. If persistent, evaluation by an Allergist can help
