See a dermatologist: See a dermatologist and have the moles checked periodically by him/her. A dermatologist will be able to follow the problem closely and remove any that may be suspicious.

I encourage all of : My patients to have a head to toe skin evaluation every year by their dermatologist. I would encourage the same for you. The moles can be assessed at that time.

i'm very concerned about lots of small moles on my back. what should i do?

Accepted Answer

See your doctor: A lot of moles, especially if they are new or changing , may be a sign of a condition called "dysplastic nevus syndrome". There is an increased risk of melanoma in this syndrome, and its best to have these moles evaluated by a dermatologist.

i have a lots of mols for years but there are 2 moles on my back right next to each other they are light brown one is bigger never changed is it nomal?

Probably so: Unlikely to be a problem as you describe it, but would not be a bad idea to let your personal physician take a look at it to make sure...Obviously rather difficult to look at our own backs..If you develop any skin lesions that seem to be growing quickly or are turning very dark or appear to have blood vessels running through them, then definitely see you dr.  Slow to no growth is reassuring.

i have a mole on back 2-4 years.  not sure if it should be looked at.  it is a darkish brown not black.  unsure if its changed over time because its on back and hard to see but i don't think it has.  i'm outdoors for work a lot.

i have a mole on my face. usually after getting a lot of sun and irritation from sand on my face, it dries up. i pick it, it scans and then heals going back to normal. it doesnt look abnormal and has happened twice already.

Agree with Dr. G: Do not pick the mole. for general advice on moles:
You may watch and wait. If the mole doubles in size, becomes irregular in size, shape or color, bleeds, ulcerates or develops a nodule, see a doctor.

i notice that i have a purpleish black little spot on my back its not a mole its just a spot im very concerned  been under a lot of stress lately?

Black spot: See your doctor. There are many possibilities perhaps a bruise or blood blister. Perhaps a cherry angioma that has infarcted.  Any new spot that appears should be checked to be sure it is not something unexpected.

i have a quarter sized mole on my back that doc said is fine. today i scraped it really bad carrying a metal rack. it bled a lot. do i need to go to the doctor or just keep it clean?

Accepted Answer

: These tend to have a brisk vascular supply and can bleed more than anticipated when traumatized.  Having said that, basic wound care with keeping the wound clean and applying a clean / sterile dressnig should be all that is required.  Of course if the bleeding persists or there are other changes in the lesion, circle back with your doc to take another look.

i have a small freckle/mole on my upper lip that got noticeably darker shortly after i got back from vacation, where i was in the sun a lot. is it normal for that to happen?

: It is possible it is from the sun exposure. If that is the case, it should fade to its typical color now that the sun exposure has ended. If it doesn’t return to its baseline color, have it checked by a dermatologist. Good luck to you!

Check up: You should have a check up with your dermatologist to make sure there is nothing else wrong.
