my 16 month old has had a fever , runny nose,  runny tummy and now a rash. the rash looks like mosquito bites - no blisters, doesnt seem itchy. some are flat and diffuse others more defined. could it be chicken pox? what else could it be?

Virtual appointment: During a virtual appointment you may upload a photo or review with a HT specialist. There are many reasons that toddlers with viral symptoms develop a rash. Usually the rash self resolves. If your child is taking antibiotics, an allergic reaction to the medication should be considered. Impetigo is a skin infection with a characteristic appearance. Watch for signs of peeling, red eyes and swelling.

hello.. i have marks that look just like chicken pox all over my body (except face).. i've already had the chickenpox and i have no fever. ?

You need to be: examined/have someone look at the rash. If you had chickenpox, you wouldn't have it again. You may have a different virus or a reaction to something you were exposed to. Rashes are very difficult to diagnose without seeing them. If you are a HealthTap Prime member, you can contact one of us that way and we can look at a photo of the rash.

Shingles: how old is your son was he vaccinated against chicken pox if so he can still get modified chicken pox but for the most part if immunized it is likely he will not get the infection.

Steroid/antiitche : U treat the symptoms which is itching & picking. Steroid &anti itching creams r ur cheapest using otc products. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) also will help. If not enough c ur pcp for stronger strength steroid cream & if bad enough u may need a Medrol dosepack.

Hives: Slightly raised red patches may be hives. Treat with benadryl (diphenhydramine).

Unrelated: By 2 months after chickenpox your immune system is back to normal and any symptoms you have are unrelated. If you were already in poor health, such an infection may push you further down that road. There may be unrelated issues that you need to have evaluated &amp; treated.

It's difficult to: know without seeing the bumps. Where are they? How long have they been there? Have you been vaccinated against Chicken Pox? Usually Chicken Pox is itchy and the bumps become blisters within a day or so of first appearing.  Please see your doctor so that this rash can be properly diagnosed.

i have recurring skin rashes in different areas that appear like fever blisters or shingles and itch. i never had chicken pox. it lasts a couple wks. ?

Herpes?: It hard to tell what you have that return in different areas and itch - not likely zoster maybe allergic reaction herpes simplex maybe ...See a doctor for a diagnosis.

i have broken out in itchy spots all over my body (mostly on my face, chest and back) frequent headaches but no fever. could it be chicken pox?

It's possible: Chicken pox is rash associated virus where the rash looks like little blisters. if you have a rash like this and it continues to spread, then you might have pox. check on internet for pictures. The treatment is supprtive with benadryl for itching and calamine lotion or caladrul lotion on lesions. Tylenol (acetaminophen) for any fever or discomfort. if you start to feel very ill with a high fever, see your doctor
