No: There are multiple medications we use for muscle spasticity to varying degrees of help including flexeril, zanaflex, soma, baclofen, Valium, and skelaxin (metaxalone) just to name a few.  Discuss directly with your doctor what would be best for you.

i have had spasticity with full body muscle spasms(especially in feet) and stiffness for 6 weeks. along with light tingling and feeling of weakness in left hand. does this mean i have als? note: i've had two mri's and both came back normal?

: ALS needs a good clinical as well as lab work in addition NRI.  It could be something else too. Pl see a good neurologist. Wish you well

Does it Work?: Flexeral is not recommended for long term use. Generally 2-3 weeks is about the recommended time, especially at age 65. Having said that, there may be a good reason for your doctor to extend the duration time of taking the medication.

Buspar (buspirone): Unusual movements of the head & neck muscles has been reported as a side effect, related to dose increase or high dose. Please inform your prescribing doctor asap.

my facial nerves are damaged, i have numbness in my forehead, eyelids, and also my face, muscle spasms and also twitching. i no longer have tears either but my eyes do not hurt a lot, they are mostly ok. what would be the prognosis?

: Most of your symptoms seem non organic and functional. have your doc give you a checkup. If OK then keep yourself busy helping the unprivileged, social work, music , sports or meditation.. You should be fine

Yes it can: yes it can. Hydration and cough suppressants can control these symptoms. It's important to understand the cause of your cough for it's usually severe cough that is capable of causing muscle spasms

NSAIDs and exercise: 85% of us will have an episode of back pain at some point in our lives. The treatment is generally non steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, light exercise.  Physical therapy and muscle relaxers can also be helpful.  The pain generally improves over a few weeks.

See below: Muscle spasm is usually secondary to something else. For instance a disc herniation can cause muscle spasm. Treating the spasm is ok but is only treating the symptom not the cause. See a doctor who specialized in the treatment of spine conditions.

Magnesium deficiency: Low mag means a true deficiency or relative.
I see lots of low back issues and many are linked to tight hams and muscles in the leg/foot. Heat stretching and massage. See a good massage person who will unlock you entire back, gluts, hams, calves and feet. Add in magnesium, epsoms soaking. I love acupuncture and myofasical release w Lidocaine trigger point needling.

Spine nerve irritate: You can be having muscle spasms due to spinal nerve root irritation.  If you have superficial muscle spasms, you can be helped usually by massage or hot packs.  Massage that is helpful is usually enjoyable.  If the massage causes you pain and is unpleasant, the massage is teasing the deep muscle spasms to go more into spasm instead of releasing it.  In that situation, you usually have tight muscle.
