: Fioricet is habit forming.  Since fioricet contains barbiturates, drowsiness &amp; dizziness are concerns and could impair ones ability to safely drive or operate machinery. Barbiturate overdose can be fatal. The acetaminophen in 5 tabs a day can interact with alcohol causing liver damage. I applaud your intention to wean off fioricet. Caffeine excess raises blood pressure &amp; heart rate.

To break up this process, obtain a second opinion from a neurologist who focuses on headaches.  Your medication program is in need of significant modification, and this should be done under a doctor's supervision.

Many Ways: Aside from the likely liver or kidney damage from the Aspirin or tylenol (acetaminophen) contained in these combinations, assuming that you were taking the meds for headache, you will probably develop medication overuse headache. There is also the possibility of developing a barbiturate dependence which could lead to seizures if you stopped the drug suddenly.

Limit use of Fiorcet: Fioricet (acetaminophen butalbital and caffeine) is a combination drug of butalbital (a barbiturate) acetaminophen, (aspirin) and caffeine. Affective for tension headache; however, the barbiturate could cause euphoria, drowsiness, intoxicated feeling and light- headedness. Must utilize in a cautious manner. Habit forming and overuse could extenuate symptoms. Butalbital has a half life of 36-38 hrs. Better to use short term; spec. rxs.

Yes: It is prudent to limit Fiorcet use, please keep your provider involved. If pregnant. Zofran is typically not the first choice for anti-emetics especially in early to mid pregnancy.
