Since he was allergy tested, was he highly allergic? Does he have asthma? Is he allergic to other triggers? All these questions are important to see what might be best. Even allergy shot desensitization may be helpful. Follow up with your Allergist if Allegra (fexofenadine) isn't working.

: You can stop loratadine today and start fexofenadine tomorrow. You should not use them in combination, such as using loratadine along with certirizine or fexofenadine or benadryl or hydroxyzine at the same time.

Fexofenadine (allegra) is a newer or second generation anti-histamine. Some sensitive persons complains of mild drowsiness. Other listed side effects include headache, heart burn, muscle pain, somnolence.

The parent compound of allegra (fexofenadine), terfenadine marketed as seldane, caused rare but serious heart rhythm problems. Allegra (fexofenadine) does not cause these problems at all.
