Referred pain differ: Referred pain is pain that arises in structures with a simar proximal embryo logic origins & innervation that may be located at some distance from each other in the adult body and therefore misleading as to the cause of the pain. Liver disease should cause pain in the right upper abdomen but liver pain may be referred to the upper mid or lower right abdomen, right shoulder/arm or a headache.

i have severe referred pain in back (@ liver, gb, pancreas).  i only have mild pain in abdomen (ruq).  which is more likely:  pancreas, liver, or gb?

Hard to know: Sounds more pancreatitis but impossible to know without more history and physical exam. See your doctor anytime you describe a pain as "severe.".

Need further testing: You are absolutely correct, pain in your back and a generalized bad feeling after a fatty meal may mean there is a problem with your digestive system.  Given all of your symptoms it would be best to see your primary care doctor for consideration of more blood work and possibly further testing.

Time to stop guessin: Call your doctor and have a gastroenterological evaluation....   A gastroenterologist is the expert on the GI tract.

Pain with sex: There are many possibilities.  The most likely source of the pain are the uterus, fallopian tubes, ovary or colon. You need to report this to your doctor and get an examination including a pelvic examination to determine the cause and then you can be given proper treatment.

dr, is there a way to differentiate pains caused by the gallbladder problem vs liver problem? because of the referred patterns of pain of these two are the same?

: By my experience, liver pain (hepatalgia) is more constant (all day) but dull in character, not often associated with stomach symptoms. Gallbladder pain (biliary colic) is more sharp, episodic, often associated with stomach sx such as N/V and usually triggered by a meal. In both conditions, pain can radiate to the right shoulder. Take care.

what's the difference between radiculopathy and referred pain?

1 is subset of other: Radiculopathy is specifically a problem with a spinal nerve root (like in math, radical = square "root").  Referred pain is one that is experienced distant from its source.  Radiculopathy is a form of a referred pain.  An example is an irritated nerve root in the lower back can cause pain in the foot.

Probably muscle spas: If you are a healthy man with no illnesses and experience pain in your side during sex, you are having a muscle spasm.

See your dentist: Have an examination to check for an infection, an injury, or periodontal (gum) disease, and get treatment if necessary. If you have an infection, the pain will reoccur.
If you are clenching (bruxism--chronic grinding and/or clenching the teeth), your dentist can diagnose this and suggest an appropriate treatment.
