Cystic fibrosis: This condition can damage the pancreas as well as the liver and since alcohol may do the same it would be judicious not to drink alcohol.

dull cramp pain on right flank. ultrasound found 17mm cyst in liver fam doc said its nothing serious. i forgot to ask more questions, could the cyst be the cause of the dull pain? can i drink alcohol?

Liver cysts: Are quite common and usually not a worry, nor do they cause pain. Alcohol consumption should always be in moderation regardless of any underlying medical problems. If your liver is also enlarged that may cause pain on your right upper side. Your family doctor is probably just communicating the benign report your ultrasound. If pain persists your doctor may recommend ct scan which is more sensitive.

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If your GI, who examined you, saw the imaging studies is not able to decipher the issue, it is unreasonable to expect some one in this forum to do better. Sometimes one needs to observe the course of issues to come to a diagnosis.

Hepatitis: If you have elevated enzymes that are emanating from the liver you have hepatitis.  This may not be viral hepatitis, but commonly NASH or fatty liver will produce such increases.  No idea what you mean by spots and stripes on liver. Discuss these things with your doctor - communication is important. Best wishes.

Many...: There are many manifestations of liver disease.  They include skin findings of jaundice, red "spiders" skin spots, red palms, bruising; lab abnormalities e.g. Elevated lfts, low platelets, low albumin, elevated inr; and abnormal imaging of the liver with us, ct or mri. Probably harmful: Alcohol is toxic to the liver.  Depending on the extent of previous damage, the reason for the damage, and whether or not the liver was able to recover fully, alcohol could do real harm.

Alcohol free wine: Many problems of the liver are due directly to alcohol.  Alcohol free wine would protect one from alcohol damage, unless alcohol is consumed in some other form for example beer, or whiskey etc.

No, alcohol: Will make your liver worse.  Don't drink if you have liver disease already.
