Home remedies: You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. A mix of chamomile tea w honey ; a small amt of lemon juice helps. For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat.

Several: The first thing i think of with this combination is someone trying to lose weight using a diuretic, or an athlete who's rehydrated insufficiently using only water. i have an lp(a) level of 135 nmol/l, and the rest of my lipid profile tests are all normal. i am a 21 years old, and 10 months post stem cell transplant. and i wanted to know if a high lp(a) level is dangerous and/or indicates heart disease?

: Heart disease from abnormal cholesterol pattern is complex and not as simplistic as calling LP(a) dangerous though association has be found with high levels and risk of heart attack and stroke. If there is no family pattern of premature heart attack and stroke you probably should not worry about the LP(a). You were vague about normal for the lipid profile but that reiterates no need for concern.

how can autoimmune atrophic gastritis exist in the stomach with normal gastrin levels? my parietal cell antibody is positive. intrinsic factor is equivocal. my gastric is normal yet i have advanced aag, in just 2 years of having this disease?

what can thin blood aside from prescription medicine?  my husband has a clotting disorder that drs can't diagnose.  they have tested for all of the factors, sickle cell, etc...  no diagnosis.  he was on coumadin (25 mgs/day) & his level went from .9 to 1.

Difficult issue: A dose of 25 mg of Coumadin (warfarin) is way more than what is effective in most people. It is not uncommon to not be able to find the cause of clotting disorders. There are other anti-cogulants on the market, however given the difficulty in managing your husband's clotting disorder, he may require evaluation and management by a hematologist specializing in coagulation disorders.

SPEP: The best test is a serum protein electrophoresis.  It is very sensitive and specific.  The disease is rare in anyone under the age of 40.  For the vast majority of people the disease does not progress for many years 10-20+  so there is no role for screening.

This cuts off the blood supply to organs and causes severe pain. Sickle cell traits is when only half the genes code for the abnormal hemoglobin, usually not symptomatic.
