Chap stick: Any type of chap stick should help to keep them moist, but your proably have to look in the make-up department to look for something to lighten the color.

Lip rash: It can be eczema or contact dermatitis, avoid using any cosmetics or lipstick and apply an over the counter Hydrocortisone cream and moisturizer to heal the skin. A patch test with an allergist or a dermatologist can determine the cause of it.

lately, one spot on my lip has been dry and peeling. i always wear chap stick and use a soft lip exfoliator occasionally. what could be causing this?

Dermatologist: True "cold sores" are caused by a virus. I would suggest that you consult with a dermatologist who can go over your complete medical history, medications (if you are taking any), habits, and what you have been using on your lips and its effects.  A specialist who can actually examine you and has more information would be the best provider to help resolve your issue.

This : This may be a condition called hand, foot, mouth disease, which is a mild, contagious viral infection common in young children. It presents with sores in the mouth and a rash on the hands and feet. Other areas of the body can be affected as well, including the buttocks which you mentioned. There is no specific treatment for this condition, as it usually resolves in 1-2 weeks. Your child's pediatrician will be able to tell you if this is what your child is dealing with, or if there is another cause. In the meantime make sure your child's day care practice good hygiene and isolates sick children.

You : You should be evaluated by your dentist and/or physician for the correct diagnosis.  One possible cause of cracking at the corner of the lips is angular cheilitis which is caused by a fungal infection (candida albicans).  There is a treatment for this, but your want the diagnosis confirmed beforehand.

Dry Lips: Some of us are more prone to dry lips than others. It is sometimes due to mild dehydration. It sometimes gets worse as the weather gets colder. I recommend  vaseline or a soothing lip balm continuously. As always, stay well hydrated.
