Lymph nodes?: I'm betting they're lymph nodes. Almost all young adults have several in the neck if they go searching. Ask your physician next time you're in the office. Get seen earlier if they get huge or become fixed to a nearby structure.

Lipomas can range in: size and if large enough yes they could make your neck look larger. Tonsils inside your throat if big enough to change size of neck I would think you would have trouble swallowing.

Usually: Lipomas have a characteristic soft and somewhat mobile feel on exam. They don't change much over time. Cancer doing this would be unusual and your doctors are likely correct in their conclusion. Ultrasound of lipomas can show a rounded fatty area or nothing (with the lipoma blending into the surrounding fat). Sometimes ultrasound is done when patients feel they need further evidence of noncancer.

Non benign?: Non benign means malignant. I doubt if that is the case. See an ENT surgeon for exam, advice.
