Pneumonia:  Not necessarily. If you healed well, there may not be residual pulmonary scarring.  The question is- do you currently have sequela from the pneumonia.

Not necessarily: If you were hospitalized previously for pneumonia then yes you would be at higher risk .  The diagnosis  covers a range of illness. The term "walking pneumonia" has been used in patients who may or may not have a true pneumonia, don't seem sick enough to warrant hospitalization or even an x-ray, but may benefit from antibiotics. We all experience such respiratory infections over our lifetime.

Causes of pneumonia: There are many germs that cause pneumonia-and I would like to know 'which' germ affected you. Hopefully your doctor figured that out, although often no tests are done. This would have a bearing on how best to prevent any future episodes. If you're healthy, that's great- the key is to stay that way and avoid pitfalls that set u up for disease (like smoking, too much stress, too little sleep etc).

can you tell me about copd, pneumonia and pseudemonous infections on life support ?

Complicated case: COPD is a cause of respiratory failure that may lead to 'life support' on vent. Pneumonia is an independant factor that makes COPD pt harder to get off life support. Pseudomonous is an infection seen with chronic lung disease and can be hard to treat. Some people may be colonized and never clear but may not be an active infection.  All combined is a difficult case to get off life support.

Hard to say: The specifics of your case is known best by the treating physicians. I would expect no less than a 10 day course of treatment, but more than that would require a better knowledge of the specifics of the case.Keeping up to date with the treating doc can answer your question.

Rare occurance: The chances of you having CF are rare, but if you are concerned talk to your doctor about getting tested.

: Use good hand washing and avoid touching your face, have a flu vaccination unless otherwise contraindicated, eat a healthy diet and avoid contact with sick individuals. Wiping computers and phone is also recommended. If you are concerned, discuss q IgG, A, M, E testing with your provider. If you are otherwise healthy, you may be able to improve this pattern with the measures outlined.
