I would start by asking your physician to recommend someone to help you overcome this habit if you cannot do it on your own.

You should know that there is much variability in the shape of the mouth, teeth and gums so just because your mouth looks different this is not necessarily a bad thing.  You can talk to your dentist if you are concerned.  And stop this licking habit. Focus on something else.

Different: When you sleep with your mouth open, your teeth, gums and tongue and lips get very dry.  She may be just trying to wet everything with saliva so her lips can slide over her teeth and not stick above them.  It's dry mouth at night condition causes overgrowth of bacteria and therefore more gum disease and cavities.  She needs to find out why she isn't breathing through her nose.

Is it sharp?: A sharp canine sometimes induces the tongue to go to the area to "pad" the sharp edge.  Ask your dentist to reshape or smooth out the canine if this is the case.  Do we have tongue biting during function (eating or chewing or swallowing)?  Is your canine erupted in the wrong position (ectopic eruption)?  Minor tooth movement with aligner sometimes can help to change the position.
