is it healthy to pass stools three to five times a day?

Accepted Answer

Probably not: Stool frequency is variable, from 1-2 per day all the way to 3-4 days between stools.  If you have no other symptoms its probably safe to watch.  If your nervous, see your doctor.

five month old stooling four times a day. he is at 60% for weight and 90% for height, no apparent weight problems. could this be malabsorption?

May be normal: If your baby is breastfeeding, four stools daily is entirely normal.  If on formula, this may still be normal. If the stools are odorous and loose, it may suggest a lactose intolerance if he/she is on a dairy-based formula, however.   In any case it does not sound like malabsorption as his growth is entirely appropriate at this time.  Do talk to your doctor about your concerns.

after colonoscopy, five days and no stool. should i be worried?

If you have been: Eating regular meals it is a bit unusual. Call your endoscopy doctor and discuss with him/her.

my baby who is five months of age, she has oil with stool. and its happening 4 or 5 times in a day. what is the problem, pls. answer?

Doctor can check: A pediatrician can take a look at a fresh poop, in the diaper. The parent can show the doctor what part of the poop is "oil". The doctor will want to know if the baby has been eating anything other than breast milk or baby formula, and will also want to know if the poop has changed in amount, odor, color, frequency, etc... Also, we worry more if a baby is not growing according to his grow chart.

one stool per day in morning two hours after waking but always unformed, mushy and fluffy. tried numerous changes to diet, different types of fibre, exercise, reduced caffeine to no affect over last five years. do you think any solution is possible?

Yes: Fiber is the answer. Even though you mentioned fiber trials, I wonder if you took enough, and incorporated (non soluble) high fiber foods in your diet
Think: kale (chips work too) pumpkin seeds, pop corn, chick peas (hummus is ok), grapefruit, oranges, cabbage, Brussels sprouts).
Citrucel is not gassy, but oat bran, wheat bran work well. Bake oat bran muffins with flax seed meal and enjoy daily.

i noticed not going to the bathroom all day i just passed stool and it was white and  and then i went again five minutes later and it was brown i used the suppository in the morning could that cause my stool to be white?

i've had loose stools for the past 15 years on a regular basis.  is there anything to worry about if i have a colonoscopy every five years?

Needs evaluation: Hopefully you have told the GI doctor who does your colonoscopies about this.  If not, do so. This is not normal and should be investigated. Hope this is nothing serious. Good luck, .

my five year olds stool is generally  lime green. is this bad? he never has pain, discomfort. he mainly eats white pasta light colored soups and foods

See below: The color of the stool can vary, depending on how quickly it passes through the intestinal tract. As long as he is not have chronic diarrhea, or blood in his stool, i would not be concerned.
