Micro: surgery is the only "curative" treatment! This may be accompanied by Radiation of draining lymph nodes. IMMUNOTHERAPY is "ijn the works" but thus far does not seem to "add" life years! Hope this is helpful/Good Luck! Dr Z

i am expecting to have a lentigo maligna removed. i have had 2 tias and am taking clopiwin plus.  what are the risks if i need to stop the medication in order to have the procedure.  would i be able to take ecotrin for a few days?

: The issue involves risk of prolonged bleeding and delayed clotting, and you must stop any antiplatelet drugs for about 5 days preop.  This is NOT an issue to be handled here, but rather you need to fully discuss your co-morbidities with your surgeon and anesthesiologist.  Typically, you will be unlikely to suffer a TIA or stroke when temporarily suspending your medication

Time growth: The pattern of growth of melanoma is defined by the thickness of the lesion with those defined by Breslow of more than 1.5 mm thick having a greater possibility of spreading.  With time the flat, thin appearance changes and the melanoma grows thicker to take on a nodular appearance.  Later, this nodular lesion takes on an ulcerating picture wherein the prognosis is far poorer.

Why the next surgery: 2 "moles" to be removed? Did the DR say WHY? Do they have certain features suggesting melanoma? If the lab finds BENIGN lesions, then you are done, nothing to worry about. If there is melanoma, it will be staged. The prognosis depends on the stage. You need to be thoroughly familiar with the features to look for as suggesting biopsy for melanoma.

Need more info: In general  in lost 10 years with new chemo previous decimal prognosis is now  getting better , the way you describe , may have satellite metastasis . On the skin , is not a good sign , speak to your oncologist
