No suicidal thoughts: Subclavian steal is a purely vascular syndrome, where using your arms vigorously takes blood from the arteries going to  the brain in people with abnormal anatomy of the blood vessels.  This can cause dizziness or fainting.  Suicidal thoughts are never part of this.  If you are having such thoughts, whether followed by blackout or not, you need to see your doctor or psychiatrist right away.

Vascular US: The diagnosis of subclavian steal usually made by Doppler ultrasound of the arteries &amp; veins with the arm in various positions. If there is truly no pulse when arms are over your head, the Doppler signal in that position should read 0 (or minute flow incompatible with health). The : The subclavian artery is an artery that is situated under the clavicle. This vessel can become narrowed with atherosclerotic plaque in some people. Rarely, this may cause symptoms of vertigo or arm fatigue with exercise of the affected side. Treatment, although rarely necessary, can often be accomplished with stenting of the affected vessel, and can also be fixed quite durably and with reasonable risk with a surgical bypass.

Results: shadows of the dye, still or motion picture. Angiograms NEVER fix anything, only a blood visualization technique &amp; dye (filtered out of blood by kidneys over hours) can create problems. Clots→Scar tissue=always what blocks flow.

The wrist.: Blood flow in arteries is away from the heart.  The subclavian artery goes into the arm and is past where the vessels to the neck are located.  If it is cut then flow to the forearm and wrist may be less.

See vascular surgeon: If your arm is dark purple it is cyanotic.  It is depleted of oxygen and should have a prompt evaluation.  I would think it is already serious.

Yes: If the origin of a subclavian artery is occluded by atherosclerosis, when the upper extremity is exercised it will need to get its blood from the vessels that supply the brain, very likely causing vascular insufficiency.
