Many causes for: Cramps and twitching that are not als.  You are worrying about the worst possible outcome when there are other reasons such as scoliosis, cervical dystonia, cervical radiculopathy...

muscle twitching on right side of neck where it meets shoulder, no pain. the only thing i did the day before was clean. nothing different. i can feel it almost fluttering. when i put my hand on it i can feel the twitches against my hand. worrisome?

: Localized muscle twitching can be caused by overuse of a muscle group especially if the activity was out of the ordinary. I think this is a benign situation that will resolve.on its own. Abstain from caffeine in the meantime. See your physician or a neurologist as needed.

Best to see doctor: The upper cervical nerves form the stellate ganglion which can go rostrad to the head for innervation. The lower ones do control the neck and shoulder muscles. It is difficult to just say that the problem is that. It is best to have it evaluated especially in view of the eye twitching.

Causes include lack of nutrients in the diet, medication side effects, lack of sleep, too much caffeine/exercise/stress, medical conditions that cause metabolic disorders, including low potassium, kidney disease, and uremia. If Calcium /Magnesium supplement may help. If symptoms continue see a DR.

Neck arthritis: There are several joints and intervertebral discs in the neck.  These can wear out over time leading to pain.  Degeneration of the joints or discs can cause neck pain, headaches, and shoulder pain.  You can also get neck pain from a muscle strain.  In some cases pain in the left side of the neck could be related to your heart so be sure to see you physician.
