Prednisone allergy?: I am uncertain he had a prednisone allergy. You need to discuss the reaction with your  physician. This may have  been related tot eh dose  of the prednisone and was a  side effect  of the level of the dosage. Prednisone is a corticosteroid and these are the mainstay of acute therapy for poison ivy. You can discuss this  your physician and see a dermatologist. You may need a different preparation

Yes, that is quite: common. The fluid, called serous fluid, is the fluid that results from inflammation of the layers of the skin. It is not an indication of infection, as patients sometimes think. This usually lasts anywhere from a few days to 2 weeks if untreated. I would recommend seeing your doctor, who may be able to prescribe a topical or oral steroid to speed up the healing process.

Contact dermatitis: Poison ivy can get on your penis if you touch a plant and then your privates. If you did that, about 2-3 days later, it would do exactly what you describe, and the itching normally lasts about 3 weeks. The itching is normally quite severe, so it would be best if you saw your doctor and got prescription medication and made sure the diagnosis is correct. Rashes have to be seen to be diagnosed.

It can: Though it is usually due to people putting topical benadryl, (diphenhydramine) either creams or liquids, and developing an adverse reaction to it.  If it has been going on for weeks, you need to be seen.

Well, not contagious: Poison ivy is an allergic reaction not an infection. When you initially get poison ivy sap on your skin or clothing you could conceivably spread it by contact to another person. So in a sense you are "contagious". After about 24 hours the sap is no longer on your skin so it can't be spread. By the time the rash appears several days later it definitely can't be spread.

Time is only cure: Other tips: if you know you've touched poison ivy, wash the affected area with soap and water immediately to get rid of the plant's oils. Taking a hot shower can flush the histamine out of the skin temporarily; it may itch while in the shower, but can provide relief for a short time afterward. Otc Hydrocortisone can help mild cases. See your dr if it covers a large area or doesn't get better soon.
