Prednisone allergy?: I am uncertain he had a prednisone allergy. You need to discuss the reaction with your physician. This may have been related tot eh dose of the prednisone and was a side effect of the level of the dosage. Prednisone is a corticosteroid and these are the mainstay of acute therapy for poison ivy. You can discuss this your physician and see a dermatologist. You may need a different preparation
