Inherited condition: Scalp cysts are called pilar cysts.  They are often inherited.  We don't understand what makes these develop. They are benign, and when large and have risk of rupture, we excise them.  We don't know how to prevent these from developing.

Pilar/scalp/wen: Pilar cysts are common, and if removed in total and the whole capsule, they should not return, BUT can return in other areas (not the same ones).  Best wishes.

had a scalp cyst removed in october. now where it was removed it's bleeding and puss. is that normal?

Cyst complications: Was the cyst removed closed with sutures??  or left open to heal on its on???  if it was stiched shut  -  you need to call the doctor that did it and be seen.   If it wasn't stitched closed  -  then I would try using dilute peroxide to clean the area and antibiotic ointment - but call and get an appointment to be seen -  its long past the post op complications time period.

Probably: You will probably have a minor "ident" after such a surgery.

Yes: They can be removed by a general surgeon under local anesthetic when they are not inflamed.  Make an appointment with one and discuss the options.

inarch last year i had benine cyst about 2cm removed from my scalp. it was done really well and i havent had any problems with it until about two days ago. its very red, painful and has a hole where puss is coming out of. what should i do?

Get checked: Sounds like area has gotten infected. Let your provider know about the problem. This will probably need to be seen and incised and drained.

Possible: Do you have a history of headaches.  If you do some type of surgery or injury would be stimulus to bring headache on.

i have recently felt a slight bump on my scalp towards the middle on my right side. it feels larger  and harder than a cyst -  approx 2cm diameter. not painful and it isnt protruding very much. but im wondering if i should get it checked or not ?

Dermatologist: Any new bump on your scalp should b checked out to rule out cancer.  A dermatologist can determine if you have cyyt or a tumor or another type of bump.   Please have this checkered soon.  Best of luck.
