Make an appt: This needs to be evaluated urgently, could be related to bleeding in the eye or a tear in the retina.  Other causes are also possible, but this symptom needs a dilated exam to evaluate further.

Not neurologic: You are most likely seeing a normal phenomenon termed entoptics, a patterning of the white cells in the circulation at the center of the back of your eyes.

Floaters: Usually floaters are mainly benign and annoying.Usually improve with time. However when present one must be sure the retina is not injured.You must be seen by an ophthalmologist for a retinal exam. Usually when the retina is involved one also notes flashes and maybe some visual change.Exam very important.

Depends on symptoms: Floaters really don't require surgery.  Surgery will be elective.  Even modern 25 guage vitreous surgery is not without complications, however.  There is still a 1% risk of retinal detachment and a very high likelihood of the development of cataracts.  My own vitrectomy was not done until after my cataracts were removed in spite of a lifelong history of very bothersome floaters.

Ophthalmologist: Flor these symptoms you need to see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible.  These suggest the likelihood of a retinal detachment, a serious problem which can lead to blindness quickly if not detected and treated.  Do not delay.

i've had 2 post vitreous detachments this year - now have large floaters, which can obstruct my vision. i'm told vitrectomy is too risky. suggestions?

Talk to eye doctor: Your eye doctor would be your best source of information on your options.  You can ask him if lasering the floaters may be an option.

You need to be: evaluated as soon as possible. It sounds like you may have a retinal detachment or other intraoccular issue. The sooner you get evaluated the less likely you are to lose vision permanently in that eye. Go to your eye doctor ASAP.

Floaters: Floaters are aggravating .if pressures are normal and retina is intact and you have no evidence systemic disease, no headaches, normal blood pressure, I would not be particularly concerned.

Don't understand pulsatilla nature of your complaint .

Floaters: Floaters are common and usually due to a change in the protein composition of the vitreous (inside gel of the eye). The best way to "treat" them is to allow the brain to adjust: so cognitive therapy in effect might help (no randomized controlled study to prove that yet to my knowledge); [check with your eyemd that they are "just" floaters and not inflammation in the eye.]-sounds like you did :).

Floater: A large floater could be causing blurred vision, but you should be able to see thru it. Any new floaters or light flashes should be evaluated by an ophthalmologist to make sure there is no associated retinal tear or detachment.
