bought a cervical pillow for neck. caused wax buildup in one ear. common problem for me. didn't use my ear wax drops for months. day 5 now, some relief with 2 drops 2x daily, but still blocked. how long to clear? also use wet a cotton ball in ear?

: Depends on how hard you ear wax is. Wet cotton ball not likely to help. You must soften the wax. The drops should eventually work. If your hearing is being impaired you will need to see your Dr who can likely remove it in office. Once cleared use the drops to keep it from coming back..

Skin product: Ear wax comes from the skin of the ear canal so, any changes in your skin can change the wax, too.  Let an ENT look into your ear to make sure that nothing is blocking the normal exit of the wax.  Until then, do not stick anything into your ears.

Accepted Answer

Possible: Yes, if you have impacted wax against the ear drum, it is possible to have tinnitus and vertigo.  It is uncommon, but possible.  It is imperative that you have an ENT physician properly clean out the wax and see if your symptoms disappear.

See a doctor: There are plenty of home remedies, but for large accumulations, you would do best seeing an ent. Trying other things could lead to more problems.

i can see balls of ear wax in both of my kids ears. its almost blocking the entire ear hole. it doesnt seem to be bothering either of them, but should i take them to a doctor for removal? of so, what kind of dr? or leave well enough alone?

: You can tease out what you can grasp with tweezers if the kid will sit still. There are several OTC wax dissolving ear drops you can find in drug departments &amp; use as directed. The wax itself is inert &amp; doesn't hurt anything. Keep the kid from using Q-tips that just push it in further. If nothing helps, see their doc.

Sounds more : Like earwax rather than an infection.Red flag if with fever, fussy, runny nose, coughing etc. Persistent drainage from the ear need to be checked for possible ear infection.

ive been suffering with tinnitus for 5 months only on my left ear ive gone to many doctors and say my ear is okay i bought a otoscope camera and saw a big chunk of ear wax covering my eardrum could this be the reason for ringing? im 24 years old?

my daughter had large piece of wax in ear & i used a qtip to get it although she mover & ear started to bleed.  it stopped quick, but am worried?

Likely a scratch: The walls of the ear canal are thin, and bleed easily with trauma. You likely scratched the wall on the side. We encourage parents to avoid putting Q tips in the ear for this and other reasons.The wax is made in the outer half of the canal and will fall out over time.Q-tips can push it back and plug the whole ear. Your doc can verify the scratch or be sure you didn't hurt the ear drum.

i found a large amount of dark red/brown earwax in the outside of my ear, on one side, and usually only get the dry flaky wax, what does this mean?

Ear wax: Have never heard of an ear wax "test".   Wax is just made up of dead skin and oils secreted from glands. Not much you could learn from it by having it "tested" so i would say not real.
