Often used adjunctively, but can be mono-therapy.

Varied: Life threatening: certain rashes (stevens-johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis), neutropenia (low white cells), multiple organ failure, hepatic failure, suicide, sudden death. Less severe: nausea, vomiting, dizziness, somnolence, visual change, headache, sore throat, runny nose, diarrhea, fever, fatigue - many others. You should be under close supervision by the prescriber.

Yes! : Depends on the patient and the nee, a doctor will prescribe Lamictal as high as 400 to 500 mg. Per day.  4700 mg of Lamictal per day is a massive dosage, and it can be fatal. Overdosing on Lamictal is very dangerous, and requires immediate medical attention.

Uncommon: Hallucinations have been reported with Lamictal although listed as infrequent from what I could find. Please discuss with your prescribing doctor if you think you are having hallucinations or altered perceptions since taking Lamictal. Hope this helps.

Yes : Fluid retention ( peripheral edema) has been reported in greater than 2% but less than 5% of adult  who take Lamictal ( particularly the  immediate- release product).  In addition facial edema has also been reported in 2% of children on immediate-release lamicatl (lamotrigine). Please discuss these problems with your doctor, ( particularly  patients with congestive heart failure).

Yes, you can: There are no drug - drug interactions between Lamictal and caffeine.  So there is no reason that you cannot consume caffeine in moderation.
