: You seem to have some complications post surgery. Unfortunately that happens at times. Discuss sitution with your surgeon. If dissatisfied the get another doc.

knot on knee cap from ruptured quad surgery 10 years ago, now feels like bony over growth causing some pain especially when touched. is this normal ??

Possibly: Depending on the treatment/surgery that was done, there may be scarring and or bony overgrowth at the site of repair, which can become inflammed and/or tender at times.  Conservative care with NSAIDs, ice/heat, or topical analgesics may help.  See a physician if the symptoms are persistent or worsening.

have large knot behind knee, calf  it's has gotten bigger. leg painful and having muscle cramps.hurts to bend it, stand,  lay it on things. what is it?

See MD: Sounds like a Bakers' or politeal cyst most commonly seen secondary to arthritis w/ a degenerative meniscal ( cartilage) tear. Fluid from your knee joint leaks out thru the tear in the cartilage ( and knee capsule) and collects and forms the cyst. Very common; however see your primary care physician to rule out other potential problems( DVT, etc.)best of luck !

Need more info: On what part of the knee is the swelling? It is doubtful you can resolve this issue by yourself. It may be a simple issue so see an orthopedist.

Knot, no swelling?: that might be a fine distinction indeed!
there is a bag of cushioning fluid inside the knee called a bursa. Practically any inflammation casues more fluid to accumulate inside of it.  When it is seen behind theknee whree it has popped out, it is called a baker's cyst.

Knot: It depends on what the knot is from. I would let the trainer see it and then a doctor  if necessary

PRE-PATELLAR: Bursitis is the most "classic" diagnosis with that mechanism of injury, however an exam/x ray is needed to be sure.

Hello. : Hello. I canâ€™t diagnose your knee condition. However often times this type of fluid can be due to bursitis. This is swelling of a fat pad. It can become warm, tender and red.  If there is also a fever, that can suggest an infected bursa which should be evaluated asap.  Cysts can also develop on the knee. This does sound a lot like bursitis. It can be managed by icing and elevating your knee, use of nonsterodial anti-inflammatory medication like motrin, and avoiding activities that increase the pain.    If it is not worsening, i would see if your doctor can see you next week. Take care.
