Reevaluation: The Most likely possibilities are that you have ITB syndrome that has failed conservative care, or that the pain is coming from something else, such as a pinched nerve in the back.  If you have not had one, an MRI of the lumbar spine as well as the hip itself would likely confirm the diagnosis.  Don't hesitate to seek a second opinion to get a fresh set of eyes to look at you as well.

what is the recommended treatment for staphylococcus capitis infection revealed in a culture after surgery on a swollen arthritic knee?

It depends: Staph capitis is a coagulase negative Staph species.  If this was found in 1 of 4 blood culture bottles, it may be a contaminant (artifact of blood culture sample through skin).  If this organism was found in the culture of the knee (aspirate, synovial fluid), then its presence is more worrisome and an infectious disease specialist should be consulted on how to further evaluate and maybe treat.

Yes and no: It depends on the reason for swelling.
1- infection means germs in the area causing the swelling and pain and redness and fever if you have those means you infection, if you do not
have those symptoms most likely swelling after the surgery.

i am going to have double knee surgery. i have no one to watch me at home so i wd like to go to a rehab facility. am i subject to blood clots in a facility as they won't get me up enough & infections or am i better to come home with help?

: Rehab facility should and does have physiotherapy and care after knee surgery otherwise your surgeon wont send you to one. Confirm by asking her/him

Unusual pathogen: Risk of prosthetic joint infection is influenced by many modifiers pre/postoperatively. The success of  your prosthetic joint in highly dependent of some routine health observation; dental, genitourinary, GI etc. Listeria M. is not a usual pathogen in PJIs. if you are worried about the possibility of infection please contact your surgeon ASAP for proper evaluation. Take care !

Depends: Depends on the type of surgery performed. With any knee surgery it is not uncommon to have discomfort for several weeks. Talk to your surgeon.

Yes: This is a nonspecific question so it is difficult to answer well. But, if the pain was the driving factor in having an operation and you are still having pain you need to discuss this with your surgeon.

Varies: There are multiple possibilities.  The surgery this time might have been more extensive.  But because infection is also a possibility, I would make sure your surgeon is aware.
