Twice a day: You  need to apply on the rash twicw a day, it takes few days to clear.Just apply on the ringworm and rub it in till you can not see the cream and use it twice a day.If it does not go away in few days than get it checked by your doctor or dermatologist.

Probably shouldn't: If it is definite that you have a fungal infection, which is commonly called ringworm you are better off just using the ketoconazole fungal cream and not using the steroid.

i have an itchy ,raised patch on my left lower leg. it is the size a little bigger than a silver dollar. it does not hurt, not warm, not bleeding. it just itches and oozes clear liquid. i was told it is a ringworm. ketoconazole ointment since 10/04?

: It may be a fungus or ring worm as you called it. The area should be biopsed and analyzed to rule out other skin diseases. Go see a Podiatrist or a dermatologist for help.

Ringworm: Yes, Ketoconazole topical treatment is safe to use on the face two times a day for a week.  If there is no improvement, however, after 48 hours, you should have the rash seen by your doctor.

Many options: Here in the states, there are many anti-fungal options available w/o prescription. I don't know about brazil which is where your post listed you. Wash ; dry prior to applying your anti-fungal cream. Talk to your family doc if the rash doesn't go away after a week or so. Keep the area dry between applications of anti-fungal cream.

It is possible: that you have a lesion that is not well vascularized and the medication is just not reaching it well -- or like you said it may have some bacterial infection.  I would use ketoconazole cream on that lesion twice daily, and if it doesn't help or get worse bring it to the healthcare provider to determine if another cream or ointment is needed. Ketoconazole: Ketoconazole, a broad spectrum  antifungal agent inhibiting in vitro growth of dermatophytes and yeasts by altering the permeability of the cell membrane should be applied once a day until the lesions resolve.

While scalp ringworm: ...may get better with ketoconazole, it's not the drug of first choice.  The response rate is higher with griseofulvin and terbinafine.  However, scalp ringworm is uncommon in adults, so the first step is a definitive diagnosis by microscope exam or fungal culture.  Other conditions like alopecia and seborrhea can look like scalp ringworm.  Please see your doctor back!  Good luck!  Dr. Anne
