i've taken crestor for yrs after not tolerating effects of lipitor (atorvastatin). lately i've had joint pain & leg pain at night. from crestor after all these years?

Accepted Answer

Possible...: It is possible to develop side effects but it is unlikely without some other change. If you started using another medication or supplement that was metabolized by the liver, side effects would be more likely to occur. You can always take a "drug holiday", hold the medicine for 5 days and see if symptoms resolve. If they don't resolve, resume the medication and look elsewhere for the cause.

Call your PCP: If you feel pain and stiffness in your joints or have trouble moving around, you might have arthritis. Only a doctor can tell if you have arthritis and what type it is. Please call your PCP for consultation and tests. Good luck.

No : No I would definitely say that is not normal.  At a minimum I would see a primary care doctor for a good checkup and discuss with them.

Depends on disease: It is very unlikely you are allergic to prednisone.  It is more likely youhad a side effect from the medication.  Steroids are required for life and Prednisone is a treatment for most allergic reactions.  To treat arthritis there are several options.  The first step is to determine what type of arthritis. Cymbalta, (duloxetine) injections, physical therapy are all options.  I would recommend you see a rheum.

i pulled an all nighter. can being really tired trigger joint pain in someone with lupus? even if i didn't do anything too physically demanding?

Yes: Lack of sleep increases inflammation and can, indeed, trigger a lupus flare-up. Try to get back to proper sleeping asap and ask your doctor for help if this is difficult or does not bring relief in a short time. Good sleep hygiene is a really important factor in your management of the condition. I'm glad you asked. It will be okay once you're back on track.  See comments for a good link to info.

Can be from many cau: Many medical conditions can manifest with some of these symptoms. More common ones are Flu and other viral infections. Bacterial infections can also cause some of these symptoms. Leukemia(acute variety) can also do this but it is an uncommon condition. Bursitis?: Hip pain that wakes you at night is classically bursitis, but you will need a physical exam to be sure. A steroid injection into your great troch bursa will help this if that is what it is. Nsaids may also benefit, but speak with your physician prior. Stretch your it band and your hamstrings to help. If oa, consider joint injections, pt. Hope that helps!

Many things: Arthritis. If you are a smoker, diabetic, have high cholesterol you may want to talk to your doctor about getting your circulation checked.  Sometimes other issues such as with the thyroid or nerve related issues from the spine (herniated discs, sciatica) can cause these to develop. 

If the leg pain is worse in bed (with cramps) or with prolonged walking, seek medical attention.
