No: Johnson baby lotion is just a mild, scented lotion and not particularly helpful for acne. A mild soap and acne medication containing salicylic acid is more effective for acne.

Yes: It is possible.  Many of the medications used to treat pregnancy have a rare but serious side effect in the baby called primary pulmonary hypertension and increased neonatal jitteriness.  If being off your meds means your depression worsens and you are not eating properly that could affect the baby's growth.

Yes: Most antiepileptics increase the rate of birth defects when used in the first trimester, but the overall rate is still fairly low (increases from baseline of about 1% to about 3%).

Importantly, antiepileptics may still be required if there are uncontrolled seizures.  One can't avoid them if one is seizing without them. Uncontrolled seizures are more dangerous than the drugs.

Patience: Baby acne is a common and temporary  problem.It usually appears by age 2 weeks and disappears by 3 months. Keeping the skin clean is the major plan. If it persists after 3 months and or intensifies, some normal ace treatments can be beneficial, but the doc should look into unusual hormonal issues as a cause at that point.

my 18 month old has dry patches on her arms and legs. what is the best thing to use when lotion doesn't work? have used johnson and johnson's baby lotion

Dry : Dry skin is a very common issue among children and adults.  Here are a few tips to keep you from itching.

- bathe daily with a moisturizing soap such as dove or aveeno (oatmeal).  Do not use drying soaps like ivory which can make skin even drier.

- apply moisturizer immediately after the bath while the skin is still damp

- use an odorless, colorless thick cream moisturizer such as eucerine or aquaphor.  It may be a little greasy, but it'll seal in the moisture much better than a lotion.

If the patches are becoming red, scaly, irritated, or just aren't improving, call your child's doctor.  Your child may have eczema (extremely dry skin) and may benefit from topical steroids to get the flare under control.  Good luck.

Always check: What ever you use, make sure that you do a patch test before using it on the baby. Make sure your baby is not allergic to it before you use it. If your baby has hives already you might want to consult with the pediatrician before using a new product. Good luck!

Fever: No effects for baby. If fever is persistent then follow up with doctor to find source. Maternal infection more worrisome for baby then fever

grandfather came into close contact (e.g.sit lap) with young childs (1 year and baby) on the day he had a diagnostic mri ct/ pet scan? (i guess it was with tracer). could this give adverse affect on the childs? if so, which adverse effects possibly?

: I know of no part agent used in that study that would pose a risk to anyone at any age who came into contact with them.
