Conjunctivitis: this may have nothing to do with the metformin.  You could have conjunctivitis due to allergy or infection.  See your doctor

my eyes have been very bloodshot for about a week now. i slept in my contacts but now i'm wearing them properly. why are my eyes still bloodshot?

Take a break: From contact lenses until your eyes are back to normal. They are bloodshot probably because of over wear. Going back to wearing them is not helping. Take a break from the lenses for a few days and just wear your glasses. If you are having pain or decreased vision get an exam immeditaley as you could have an infection. Good luck.

See ophthalmologist: Many diseases can cause chronic red eyes. Allergies, dry eyes and blepharitis are very common. You should see an ophthalmologist who can diagnose your problem and treat it accordingly. If you are a chronic user of visine or cleareye drops, that could be the cause too. Recommend stopping those drops and using a preservative free artificial tear instead. Good luck.

Possible dry eyes: Bloodshot eyes can be from a variety of causes, like infections, dry eyes, and blepharitis, or chronic inflammation of the eyelids.  You should visit your eye doctor to find out the cause and get treatment soon, to avoid any surface damage to the eyes. Do this instead of relying on over the counter remedies.

Doubt: Using the eye drops sound like they helped you, it is ok to continue the drops. The main cause of redness is dryness and irritation, the treatment is artificial tear drops.

Eye red with pain.: What you have now may not be related to what you had before.  Both eyes red, now one eye red with pain.  Would suggest you see an ophthalmologist to exclude a foreign body under the eyelid or a corneal foreign body, abrasion or ulcer to start with.

Depends: Red eye can  be due to multiple causes.  If you have redness associated with pain. Light sensitivity and vision problem it could be inflammation.  If associated with cold and some discharge its viral conjunctivitis. Allergic conjunctivitis ass with itch and swelling.  Pls see an ophthalmologist.

Red eyes: The make up should cause a reaction on the eyelid, not usually inside the eye. If your eye redness continues, you need to see your doctor or an eye doctor if the problem is limited to the eyes.

Bloody eyes: If there is bleeding in the white of the eyes, this an indication of acute bleeding from increase pressure, like forceful cough, vomiting. Check with your physician to make sure it is ok.

Chlorine: Chlorine can cause some of the symptoms you have mentioned.but it shouldn't last that long.Get your eyes examined soon.
